Jeffrey Tarrant is Chairman & Founder. Prior to founding Protégé, Jeffrey managed institutional size alternative investments for private family fortunes including Sidney Kimmel, founder and chairman of Jones Apparel Group, the Thurn und Taxis family of Regensburg, Germany, and the family assets of a prominent investment management fortune. From 1998 to 2002, Jeffrey was a member of the board of The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF), the leading investment advisory firm for charitable foundations and institutions. He was active in the launch of the Absolute Return Pool (ARP) which is one of the first fund of hedge funds specifically designed for the charitable community. In 1996, Jeffrey founded Altvest, one of the hedge fund industry’s largest database and analytics systems. Altvest is now a division of Morningstar, Inc. Before Jeffrey joined the Thurn und Taxis family office in Germany, he was Vice President of Berkeley Asset Management where he co-managed a multi-manager fund, the Sequoia Fund. Jeffrey received an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Davis. Jeffrey is a director of ARK US, the U.S. affiliate of ARK (Absolute Return for Kids), a U.K. based charity with a mission to transform the lives of children.
